Effect of Circumferential Single Casing Groove Location on the Flow Stability under Tip-Clearance Effect in a Transonic Axial Flow Compressor Rotor

Numerical simulations have been performed to study the effect of circumferential single-grooved casing treatment (CT) at multiple locations on tip-flow stability and corresponding control mechanism three tip-clearance-size (TCS) schemes in a transonic axial flow compressor rotor. The results show that CT is more efficient when its groove located from 10% 40% tip chord, G2 (located near 20% chord) best scheme terms stall-margin improvement for TCS schemes. For effective CTs, tip-leakage-flow (TLF) intensity, entropy generation blockage are reduced, which makes interface between TLF mainstream move downstream. A quantitative analysis relative inlet angle indicates reduction incidence not necessary improve this may be different due distinction stall inception process. better application CT, blade profile should further modified by using an optimization method adjust shock position strength during design CT.
